WHAT IS IT ALL ABOUT?

The Rigveda, in particular, is where the name “Bharat” first appears in early Indian literature. The ‘Bharatas’ are a group of people who are referenced in the Rigveda. They resided in the present-day (various) regions of the Indian subcontinent. The Sanskrit words “Bha (भा)“, which means “light” or “knowledge” and “rat (रत)“, which means “devoted” or “engrossed,” are combined to form the name, Bharat. Thus, “Bharat (भारत)” means “devoted to knowledge” or “engrossed in the light”.

The Indus River, which flows across what is currently Pakistan, is where the word “India” first appeared. When the Greeks first encountered the Indus Valley Civilization, they called the area “Indosthan” or “Hindostan”. The name changed into “India” throughout time and was frequently used to refer to the entire subcontinent. India’s pronunciation of the letter “h” as an “i” can be attributed to the Greek and Iranian immigrants who arrived on the continent some 2,500 years ago. These visitors pronounced “h” as “i”, and the natives eventually adopted this pronunciation.

India is probably one of the most fascinating nations in the world – the largest democracy, and a huge diaspora of varying cultures, ethnicities, values, religious practices, and whatnot! How (and, What) India is today, is the fruition of its glorious & vivid past, the ever-evolving vibrant culture, and a saga of how its ancestors shaped its beautiful stature and façade of grandeur, all over these years.

THE VISION AND CORE VALUES

Logically speaking, if we don’t know where we come from, we won’t know who we are today. And, if we don’t know who we are today, we won’t be able to understand where we are headed. This not only holds in the historical context but from every angle of our existence and knowing ourselves wouldn’t only prevent the risk of an identity crisis but also would help us figure out a way to contribute to fostering the growth of our motherland.

In addition to all of it, the true mark of a civilization is this, unquenchable thirst – to deliver justice to your ancestors wronged and ridiculed, to restore their pride and to embark on a dynamic “voyage” of their dream of bringing off a Golden Age in Bharat again, through awareness and right education!
